Star Wars: Galactic Racer's New Mode Pits You Against a Corrupt Champion

June 06, 2026

At Summer Game Fest 2026, Star Wars: Galactic Racer dropped a new look at its high-stakes racing campaign, and the real enemy isn't just the track. The upcoming Lucasfilm Games collaboration spotlights a bitter feud between corrupt champion Kestar Bool and a mysterious challenger named Shade, while also showing off a new location called Derven Acos and podracing beyond the familiar Mos Espa Circuit. The game hits PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 6th.

The Galactic League: Built on Sand, Run on Scrap

The underground Galactic League was founded by racing enthusiast Darius Pax in the lawless Outer Rim. Unfortunately for Pax, the well-connected and thoroughly underhanded Kestar Bool has turned himself into the league's unbeatable champion. Desperate to stop Bool's corruption from poisoning the sport entirely, Pax recruits Shade—a lone racer carrying a personal grudge against the Bool family—to enter the league and tear it all down.

No Second Chances (Well, Sort Of)

Galactic Racer structures its single-player campaign around runs. Players choose their own path through events, unlocking perks and challenges as they go, but there's no save-scumming here. Pick an event and you're committed. Crash too many times and you're out of the tour entirely.

  • Only certain perks and unlocks carry over to your next attempt.
  • Each new run starts from scratch with fresh decisions to make.
  • It's a roguelite-ish loop: regroup, rebuild, and try again.

Paddocks, Pods, and a Killer Final Track

The trailer also gives fans a peek at the paddock system—social hubs where rival pilots share stories, throw down challenges, or offer support. Each planet's paddock includes Hibi's workshop, where players can buy or earn new parts for stat boosts and ability tweaks. Meanwhile, podracing fans can breathe easy: iconic podracers are no longer stuck on Tatooine. Arcade mode lets you jump straight into podracing from the start, and there will be podracer-focused online multiplayer events.

Then there's Derven Acos, a custom-built arena that serves as the Galactic League's ultimate exam. It throws every planetary condition from the entire tour into one sadistic gauntlet. Bring a well-tuned build and nerves of steel, or don't bother showing up.
