Konami has officially released the new eFootball 5.5.0 update,
delivering a large batch of gameplay adjustments, competitive balancing
tweaks, and presentation improvements across the football simulation
experience. The latest patch focuses heavily on online competition,
player management tools, and overall quality-of-life enhancements. One of the biggest highlights of the update is the rework of the
eFootball League competitive structure. Konami has updated both the
Rating calculation system and matchmaking logic in an effort to create
fairer and more balanced online matches for players across multiple
divisions.
Visual Upgrades and Licence Updates
The latest update also refreshes numerous visual and presentation
elements throughout the game. Konami confirmed updates to cinematics,
animations, kits, boots, stadium visuals, commentary, player data, and
advertising boards. The USL Championship has also undergone major changes, with league
branding and club assets replaced by original eFootball designs,
including player names, managers, strips, and emblems.
- Updated licences
- New cinematics and animations
- Updated kits and emblems
- Refreshed stadium graphics and media backdrops
- Updated commentary and player data
- New boots, balls, gloves, bibs, and corner flags
No World Cup Mode ... Yet?
While the latest update introduces several World Cup-themed additions — including updated player faces, refreshed national team kits, and the official FIFA World Cup match ball — the game still does not include an official World Cup mode. However, speculation has started to grow after an image surfaced online showing Konami listed as an official FIFA World Cup partner. With the next Konami Connect presentation scheduled for next week, many fans now believe the company could finally announce a dedicated World Cup mode during the event.

Major eFootball League Changes
Version 5.5.0 introduces several important modifications to ranked online play. Players competing in Divisions 1 through 3 will no longer suffer relegation during the middle of an active Phase, reducing frustration during competitive seasons. In addition, player Ratings at the start of each new Phase will now be influenced by the highest Division reached in the previous season.
- Updated Rating calculation formula
- Improved matchmaking logic for online play
- No mid-Phase relegation for Divisions 1–3
- New Rating adjustments based on previous Phase performance
- Smart Assist settings can no longer be changed during PvP matches
New Team Management Features
Konami also added multiple quality-of-life improvements for squad management. Players can now select all footballers in My Team simultaneously, making roster management significantly faster and more efficient.
Another useful addition prevents locked players from being accidentally released when multiple footballers are selected at once. The maximum number of Game Plan Lists has also been expanded to 20, giving users more freedom to create tactical presets and custom formations.
- Special missions linked to new user progression
- Select All function added to My Team
- Locked players are protected during multi-release actions
- Maximum Game Plan Lists increased to 20
- My League progress reset for certain teams
Bug Fixes and Gameplay Stability
Alongside gameplay improvements and presentation updates, Konami also addressed several bugs affecting gameplay situations. One of the most notable fixes resolves an issue where the Set Piece Strategies display could disappear during free kicks or corner kicks when using Off the Ball Controls.
The eFootball 5.5.0 update is now available on all supported platforms.
