EA Sports has officially confirmed the return of Fight Night, bringing its boxing franchise back after more than 15 years without a new mainline release. The announcement was made through a newly opened official X account, @EASPORTSFN, which posted a brief message confirming the series' comeback.
“To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back,” EA Sports announced. No further details have been shared, leaving the game's title, release date, and supported platforms unconfirmed.
🥊From Fight Night 2004 to Fight Night Champion
EA Sports launched the Fight Night series in 2004 with Fight Night 2004, following its earlier Knockout Kings boxing games. The series built its identity around analog-stick controls that gave players direct control over punches, defense and movement, setting it apart from more traditional boxing games.
Fight Night Round 2 followed in 2005, with Round 3 arriving in 2006. The latter helped establish the franchise on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation, while Fight Night Round 4 introduced a physics-driven combat system in 2009, placing greater emphasis on realistic movement and the impact of punches.
The most recent main entry, Fight Night Champion, launched in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It refined the series' combat mechanics and introduced Champion Mode, a story-driven campaign centered on fictional boxer Andre Bishop. The game also featured a roster of licensed fighters, including Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.
Since then, EA has not released another mainline Fight Night game. The franchise has been absent for over 15 years, making this announcement its first major comeback confirmation in more than a decade.
💻Could Fight Night Finally Come to PC?
One of the biggest questions is whether the new game will launch on PC. The mainline Fight Night games were released on consoles rather than Windows PC, leaving PC players without an official version of the franchise. A PC release would mark a first for the series and give players another option beyond consoles. However, EA has not confirmed any platforms, so there is currently no indication of whether a Windows version is planned.
For now, the newly launched official Fight Night account on X is the place to follow for further announcements. The series' return is confirmed, but details about the game itself have yet to be revealed.
