Cancelled Assassin’s Creed Game Set in Ancient China Surfaces in Gameplay Footage

October 16, 2026

Footage from Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a cancelled project reportedly developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group, has surfaced online, offering a look at an unreleased entry set in ancient China. The game was set in 206 BCE during the Qin Dynasty, with a mission involving Xiang Yu’s army and footage suggesting a potential boss fight against the historical military leader.

The prototype footage dates back to February 2025 and showcases several familiar Assassin’s Creed mechanics, including parkour, stealth, the Leap of Faith and aerial assassinations. However, it also features some unusual ideas that give the cancelled project its own identity.

Stealth, Parkour and a Spinning Umbrella

The gameplay includes air assassinations, ground takedowns and a spinning umbrella weapon. The footage also shows the protagonist navigating the environment using the series’ traditional parkour system, alongside a Leap of Faith. The interface features ink-brush-style ability icons, a health bar and an ornate bar displaying a yin-yang emblem. Animations featuring both male and female characters also suggest that players may have been able to choose their character’s gender, although the available footage does not confirm the full character customisation options.

Why Was Assassin’s Creed Destiny Cancelled?

Assassin’s Creed Destiny was reportedly in development at Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group before the project was cancelled. The specific reasons behind its cancellation have not been confirmed in the available information. Interestingly, Assassin’s Creed Jade, another mobile project set in ancient China, remains in development despite Destiny being scrapped. The two projects are separate, meaning Destiny’s cancellation does not necessarily affect Jade’s future. Although the footage offers only a glimpse of the cancelled game, its combination of familiar Assassin’s Creed mechanics, Chinese historical influences and distinctive visual design makes it an intriguing look at an entry that never reached players.
