NBA 2K27 Patch 2.0 Released With Major Gameplay Changes and 25-Year MyCAREER Eras

October 08, 2026

NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 is rolling out on October 8 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing a major set of gameplay adjustments and fixes across the game. The update focuses on shooting, passing, defense, steals, dribbling, MyCAREER, MyPLAYER, and more. There is an important platform distinction, however: the PC version will not receive Update 2.0 today. According to the official announcement, the update is scheduled to arrive on PC and Nintendo Switch 2 shortly before Season 2 begins on October 16.

  • 🎮 PS5 / Xbox Series X|S: October 8, around 2 AM PT / 9 AM UTC.
  • 🖥️ PC: Shortly before Season 2 begins on October 16.

🎮 Gameplay Changes

Shooting receives some of the most significant adjustments in Update 2.0. The patch fixes "ghost contests," ensuring that defenders must be properly positioned in front of the shooter for their contest to affect the shot. Open shots from quality shooters are now more effective, mid-range shooting receives a boost in competitive modes, and three-point percentages have been slightly rebalanced.

  • Improved contest detection based on defender position at release.
  • More accurate shooting badge range detection.
  • Improved missed-shot rebounds with fewer rim bounces and less leftward bounce bias.
  • Fewer missed dunks when Dunk Timing is disabled.
  • Fixed correctly timed dunks and alley-oops occasionally missing.
  • Contact dunks are more successful across Rise Up badge levels.
  • Several Takeovers have received timing and effectiveness adjustments.
  • Bad Shot Selection no longer incorrectly triggers on certain successful or decent shot attempts.

Passing and catching have also been improved, with fewer missed catches and collisions with defenders, better responsiveness during body-ups, and slightly faster pass speeds.

🛡️ Defense, Steals and Dribbling

Steal animations are now better matched to the defender's rating, while low-rated defenders and players without adrenaline are more heavily penalized for failed steal attempts.

CPU defenders will also begin games playing looser both on and off the ball before increasing their defensive intensity once a player starts scoring.

  • Fixed Behind-the-Back Escape inputs occasionally producing a standard behind-the-back dribble.
  • Removed a dribbling exploit that allowed an unusually fast stop from a sprint.
  • Fixed a post-up self-lob exploit in 1v1 gameplay.
  • Tightened anklebreaker requirements.
  • Reduced the frequency of shooting fouls on blocked shots.

🏀 MyCAREER Gets Full 25-Year Eras

One of the biggest MyCAREER changes allows Eras saves to transition across different eras, making it possible to play through a full 25-year NBA career. Additional fixes address player movement, progression, and Moments tracking.

Quests and Challenges have also received multiple progression fixes, including changes affecting Rebirth, MyPOINTS Accelerator, Workout Warrior, GOAT Skills, endorsements, and other objectives. The Fire & Concrete storyline receives several fixes as well, including a progression blocker after Chapter 3 and an issue preventing its trophy from unlocking correctly.

📈 MyPLAYER and Progression

MyPLAYER progression menus now provide clearer information for Attributes, Badges, Takeover, and Build Specialization. The requirements for tiers 7 and 9 of the Physicals Build Specialization track have also been lowered. Badge Accelerators and clearer endorsement progression are now displayed on postgame Recap screens, while several hangs affecting playoff simulations, MyCOURT, and the Team Practice Facility have been fixed.

🖥️ PC Update Coming Before Season 2

PC players will have to wait a little longer for Update 2.0. The official schedule places the PC release shortly before the start of Season 2 on October 16, rather than October 8.

When it arrives, the PC version will also include several platform-specific improvements, including Advanced Shader Delivery for compatible graphics cards, which downloads per-driver shaders from the cloud to reduce installation time. The update also fixes the Intel Xe Low Latency setting and significantly improves the visual quality of Eras filters on Steam Deck.
