Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Shows Off Reworked Combat and Progression

August 18, 2026

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have released a new Combat & Progression overview for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, offering a closer look at how the remake is reimagining the gameplay of Lara Croft's first adventure.

The development team explains that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis aims to combine the slower-paced exploration of the original with more agile and dangerous combat. One of the biggest additions is the Focus system, which builds during combat and allows Lara to slow down time while showcasing her acrobatic abilities. The remake will also feature four weapons designed for different playstyles and combat ranges, while enemies will have clearly telegraphed attacks that players can learn to anticipate and counter. Progression will include a skill tree and resource-gathering system for crafting healing items and temporary buffs, while players can also choose to use Lara's iconic dual pistols throughout the entire game.

Release date and platforms

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled to launch on February 12 for:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2
