GOALS 2.0 Is the Biggest Update Since Launch

GOALS has received its biggest update since launch, bringing major gameplay improvements, smarter AI, new 5v5 modes, revamped progression and a completely rebuilt onboarding experience.

⚽ Major Gameplay Improvements

GOALS 2.0 focuses on improving the core football experience. Passing and defending have been significantly reworked, along with improvements to pass targeting, receiver selection, through balls, crosses, trapping, and first touches.

Defending now places greater emphasis on positioning, timing and reading opponents, while tackling, physical interactions, player switching and defensive marking have also been refined. Movement, dribbling and skill moves have received improvements as well.

🧠 Smarter AI

AI has taken a major step forward, with better attacking runs, offensive positioning and passing options. Midfield spacing, defensive structure, marking and offside awareness have also been improved, while 5v5 AI teammates now make better decisions on the pitch.

An adaptive bot difficulty system has also been added to provide a smoother experience for new players.

👥 5v5 Ranked and Solo Mode

5v5 becomes a major part of GOALS with the introduction of 5v5 Ranked. Five human players can compete together as a team, with each player controlling their own character.

A new Solo 5v5 vs Bots mode also allows players to control one character alongside four AI teammates through a six-match competition. The mode features increasing difficulty, dedicated progression and rewards, as well as a trophy presentation for completing the competition.

🎓 New Onboarding and Progression

GOALS 2.0 introduces a completely rebuilt onboarding experience designed to make learning the game faster and easier. Interactive tutorials now cover movement, sprinting, passing, shooting, tackling and player switching.

Progression has also been revamped with Swaps 2.0, which allows players to merge players into higher Tiers and introduces new Swaps for Originals and Retired players. Ranked and Knockout rewards have also been reworked.

🌐 Matchmaking and Quality of Life

Matchmaking has received several changes, including better matchmaking for new players, improved latency prioritization, disconnect handling and OVR protection to reduce mismatched games.

GOALS 2.0 also adds Rejoin and Abandon systems, direct friend invitations, improved party handling and network improvements.

🏟️ New Presentation and Performance Improvements

The update adds the new Premier stadium, improved lighting and post-processing, new loading screens and better stadium performance. The frontend has also been redesigned with 3D characters, improved animations and enhanced kit presentation.

Performance and stability have been improved across the game, including better compatibility with older CPUs and handheld PCs.
