EA Could Merge With Savvy Games to Create a Gaming Giant

September 10, 2026

Electronic Arts could be at the center of another massive gaming industry shake-up. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is reportedly considering merging EA with Savvy Games Group, potentially bringing some of the industry's biggest franchises under one company.

šŸ“°A Massive Gaming Portfolio

The potential merger would bring EA franchises such as EA Sports FC, Battlefield, The Sims and Madden NFL together with Savvy's gaming assets, including MONOPOLY GO! and Pokémon GO. PIF already controls both companies. It completed its approximately $55 billion acquisition of EA in August, taking the publisher private, while Savvy has built a major portfolio through acquisitions including Scopely and Niantic's games business.

ā“No Deal Has Been Confirmed

There is currently no confirmed timeline for an EA-Savvy merger. According to the report, PIF is still considering the idea and has not made a final decision. Any potential combination would likely come after Savvy completes its planned $6 billion acquisition of Moonton. That transaction is still pending, meaning an EA-Savvy merger is not expected in the immediate future. Regulatory scrutiny could also become a major factor if PIF decides to move forward. If completed, the deal would consolidate a huge collection of console, PC, mobile and esports properties under a single Saudi-backed gaming group.
