Sony and Santa Monica Studio have officially confirmed that God of War Laufey will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.
The release date was announced during the studio's San Diego Comic-Con
2026 panel, giving fans a firm date for the next chapter in the
long-running action series.
The announcement also means the game will avoid a direct launch window clash with Grand Theft Auto VI, which is currently scheduled to arrive in November 2026. Faye Takes Center Stage
Unlike previous entries led by Kratos, God of War Laufey follows Faye, the legendary Giant warrior and mother of Atreus. After awakening in the mysterious realm known as the Everywhen following her funeral, she embarks on a journey to protect the future she fought to secure for her family. Santa Monica Studio has previously confirmed that Faye's combat style emphasizes speed, mobility, and precision, while introducing new abilities tied to Giant magic.
PlayStation 5 Exclusive
At launch, God of War Laufey will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5. Sony has not announced a PC version or any additional platforms. With a confirmed release date now in place, players can expect the next mainline chapter of the God of War saga to arrive on February 16, 2027, continuing the series from an entirely new perspective.
