Borussia Dortmund is launching a permanent Fortnite map called
"Bolzplatz-Liebe" on July 3, featuring a 2v2 football mode developed
with studio DayZero. The experience combines Rocket League-style action
with Fortnite's creative tools and will remain available without
restrictions.
The map recreates Max-Michallek-Platz, a real football pitch near Dortmund's Borsigplatz. Developer DayZero says the "gameplay-first" experience will receive ongoing updates based on community feedback, with additional content and events planned.
The launch follows BVB's recent Roblox activation and is part of a broader push to reach younger audiences in digital spaces. Alexander Mühl, BVB's Director of Marketing & Digitalization, described the project as "the logical evolution of what football is about" — connecting fans through play regardless of location.
The real-world location carries significance for the club. Carsten Gröning from VIVAWEST, which manages the district, noted that the Borsigplatz area shares deep historical ties with Borussia Dortmund, and that "Bolzplatz-Liebe" continues that legacy digitally.
