The unofficial PC port of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa has received a new update, bringing several improvements to performance, graphics options, and gameplay compatibility. Version 0.6, released on October 28, continues development of the project, which aims to bring the original Xbox 360 version to Windows through static recompilation.
👍What's New in Version 0.6?
The latest update introduces several technical improvements and fixes across different areas of the game:
- Resolution options: Support for resolutions ranging from 720p up to 5K.
- Upscaling: AMD FSR with multiple quality profiles.
- Anti-aliasing: Added FXAA and MSAA options.
- Frame rate: Fixed the previous 30 FPS limitation.
- World Cup mode: Various interface and functionality fixes.
- Replays and cutscenes: Several corrections to improve compatibility.
- Team selection: Fixed issues with the interactive globe.
- Controls: Added full keyboard remapping.
❓How Does the PC Port Work?
Unlike traditional console emulation, the project uses ReXGlue, a static recompilation system that translates the original Xbox 360 PowerPC code into native Windows-compatible code.
Players need a Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit system, an original Xbox 360 game ISO, and Visual Studio C++ Build Tools. The installation process compiles the game locally and reportedly takes between 20 and 40 minutes. Approximately 12 GB of free storage is required.
The project supports USA, Asian, and PAL versions of the original Xbox 360 release.
🛠️Development Status
The PC port is still experimental and incomplete. Some features may not work correctly, and crashes or other technical issues are still possible. Version 0.6 represents another step forward, but the project should not yet be considered a finished PC release.
